RIVER VICTIM'S DEATH PROBE
Death of Ernest H. Nault, 68, 717 Eighteenth Avenue N., a night watchman, whose body was found in the Mississippi river, was being investigated Thursday night in the belief he may have been slugged and thrown into the river for revenge.
The body, recovered by coast guardsmen between the Washington and Franklin Avenue bridges, was found by Coroner Russell R. Helm to have lacerations on the forehead as if from blows.
Nault, employed at Triangle Transfer Co., 1225 Dartmouth Avenue SE., was last seen by his family when he left for work at 6:30 P.M. Monday. They told the police that several days before he disappeared, he had reported two men who molested two women, and it was believed these men might have sought revenge. Police also were told that six weeks ago he was robbed in a tavern.
Nault was married and the father of five sons and a daughter.
