DONGOLA -- Hallie Mae Hinkle, 94, died at 11:27 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Union County Hospital.

She was born April 16, 1918, the daughter of Elzie and Cora (Little) Johnson.

She married Alvin Hinkle on Aug. 20, 1938. He preceded her in death June 7, 1984.

Hallie was a lifelong member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

She worked in dietary at City Care of Anna. She also worked many years on and off the family farm, but the job she enjoyed most was her last, taking care of the elderly. Hallie was also a Tupperware dealer for more than 30 years.

She is survived by four sons, James (Jim) Ronnie (Lynell) Hinkle of Dongola, Bennie Wayne (Jean) Hinkle of Dongola, Norman Dennie (Elsie) Hinkle of Buncombe and Lonnie Eugene (Jolene) Hinkle of Dongola; special daughter, Prima (Phil) Slade of Yuba City, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charlie Johnson of Oak Lawn; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers; four sisters; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, in Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, with the Rev. Charles Duckworth officiating. Interment will be in Hinkle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hinkle Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
