Loren Eugene McCarty, 85, of West Frankfort formerly of Zeigler passed away at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Westside Care Center in West Frankfort. He was born March 17, 1926 in Whittington to Orville and Bonnie McCarty.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law of Thompsonville; two granddaughters; great grandson; nephew of Hobart, Ind. and a sister-in-law of Hobart, Ind..
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe McCarty; two sisters, Maxine Knight and Ella Mae Barnes.
He served in the United States Army during WW II and was a former Mason.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Herrin City Cemetery.
There will be no visitation friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Parker - Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort is in charge of arrangements.
