Mr. Eddie Howard Hursey was born April 25, 1929. His early years were spent in Newnan, GA where he attended Coweta County Schools and attended Zion Hill Baptist Church.

As a young man Hursey, served in the United States Army. Hursey served as a combat medic during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Upon retiring from the Army, he lived in Foster City, CA. Hursey, utilized triage skills attained as a Corpsman in the emergency department of Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, CA.

Hursey returned to Georgia in 1973 to be near family in Newnan. Hursey resided in Atlanta, GA for the last 15 years.

On the afternoon of May 5, 2012 he departed this life.

Preceding Eddie in death was his mother Louise Hursey Whitaker.

He leaves behind two sons, Eddie Luis and Jesse William Hursey of El Paso, TX; five grandchildren, Lydia, Jesse Jr., Luis, Caesar and Corina Hursey of Las Cruces, NM; two sisters, Leathia Hursey Browning of Atlanta, GA and Jessie Glanton May, Foster City, CA; a niece, Janel May of Greenville, SC, and a host of cousins and friends.
