Anna Magdalena Matthews was born September 15, 1735, probably in Frederick County, Maryland, daughter of Johann Jacob and Anna Margaretha Jung Matthews/Matthias. She was baptized by John Casper Stover on April 28, 1736, sponsors being John Jacob Hoof and Anna Barbara Teaferbiss (Devilbiss). Magdalena married on May 2, 1757, in Frederick County, Maryland, to John Henry Firor, son of immigrants Lenhart Firor/Vieruhr and Maria Barbara Willheit/Wilhide. They were the parents of 5 children: John Leonard, John Henry, Maria Barbara, Maria Magdalena and Maria Margaret Firor. Around the year 1796, the parents and daughters moved to Nelson County, Kentucky, where they lived the remainder of their lives.
