Death of George R. Harper.
We regret to have to record the death of another one of Lyon county's oldest and most highly esteemed citizens. Geo. R. Harper of Hartford departed this life on Monday last, aged sixty-one years. About ten days ago he had an attack of apoplexy from which he could not recover. The deceased was a man of sterling worth to the community in which he lived, and at the time o his death was a partner of W.P. Gould in the hardware business, and a member of the city council of Hartford. He had served one term in the legislature, and in other positions of public trust had always faithfully performed the duties that devolved upon him. He leaves a wife and a little son about two years old, and four married daughters and two sons by his first wife. He was buried Tuesday in Neosho Rapids cemetery, the funeral services having been conducted by Rev. Mr. Tyner. The bereaved family and relatives have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in this portion of the state who knew the deceased and held him in the highest esteem.
