Mary joined the Dominican Community on Sept. 17, 1929. She received the name Sister Marie Alexander of the Sacred Heart on March 11, 1930 and she made her final profession of vows on Aug. 30, 1938.
Sister Marie devoted more than 50 years to healing and caring through nursing. She spent many years at Nazareth Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she was an instructor in clinical nursing and an administrator. She also worked at Guadalupe General Hospital in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
She was a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews and enjoyed visiting often and staying with her brother and sister-in-law Paul and Sophie Schafer in Beal City.
