John Doornink of Sioux Center died Friday, July 9, in the State Hospital at Cherokee where he had been a patient for 33 years (?).
Funeral services were held Monday at the home of his daughter; Mrs. Sam Punt, Maurice, with the Rev. Mr. Le Roy Naitress officiating, and at the First Reformed church, Sioux Center, with the Rev. Mr. L. Brunsting in charge.
Preceding Mr. Doornink in death were three children: Elsie, twin sister of Miss Emma Doornink, died at the age of six months; James at the age of 21 was a victim of the flu epidemic in camp at Des Moines during the World War; John drowned at Iowa City 11 years ago this coming December.
Surviving are Mrs. Doornink, of Orange City and the following children: Grace, Mrs. Sam Punt, Maurice; Anne, Mrs. Ingebretson, of Minneapolis; Miss Emma of Burlington, Towa; Dr. William Doornink and Elmer Doornink of Orange City.
Deceased was born in Greenleafton, Minn. 67 years ago. He is also survived by two brothers, Tony and Ed of Sioux Center.
