9/15/1924 ~ 6/12/2012 Ruby Inez Pugh Walker Denny, 87, a former longtime resident of Salem and Roanoke County, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Waynesville, N.C., where she had been living recently, close to her son.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Richard Arthur Walker and Asa Finley Denny; her parents, John L. Pugh and Reba Garst Pugh, of Salem; a brother, Roy W. Pugh, of Brandon, Fla.; and a sister, Lorrene Owens Bryant, of Williamsburg.
Inez was a super cook and worked most of her life as a beautician. Her greatest love was working in her garden. She loved her flowers and growing beautiful tomatoes and other vegetables. Inez's greatest love in the last few years was her friend and companion, a little white Bishon dog named, Prissy. She enjoyed the sister missionary girls who visited with her and shared meals together. Inez was a member of the Salem Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Surviving are her son, Richard Micheal Walker and fiance, Lela Evans; and Mike's children, Michelle Leigh and Richard Allen, of Maggie Valley, N.C.; and son, James Allen Walker and wife, Ruthanne, of Glenndale, Ariz.; sister, Janet Pugh Leighton and husband, James, of Williamsburg, Va.; sister-in- law, Edna Pugh, of Seffner, Fla.; numerous cousins and nephews; and a long time friend and helper, Betty Vermillion, of Salem.
Funeral Services will be held at noon on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Oakey's North Chapel. Bishop Noah McDaniel will officiate. Interment will be held in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends starting one hour before service time on Saturday June 16, 2012, at Oakey's North Chapel. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel, Roanoke.
