Ackerman. She was a secretary for Bell South Communications for 27 years and a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneer Club. Born in Jersey City, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy M. (Scheffer) Mertz. She was a volunteer for the auxiliary of the Desoto Memorial Hospital, Arcadia. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Forks Township, where she was past president of the Lutheran Womens Missionary League and past president of the Anthracite Zone. Survivors: Daughters, Janice Hanus of Arcadia, Fla., Rosalind Martin of Ephrata, Lancaster County; sister, Lucinda Cupillari of Orbisonia, Huntingdon County; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lorraine Sears, in 1998. Services: graveside, 11 a.m. Tuesday, Northampton Memorial Shrine, Green Pond Road, Palmer Township.
