Mary B. Apanavicius, 60, of Belmar, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Mary was born in Hoboken and lived in Neptune before moving to Belmar 30 years ago. Mary had worked for over 25 years as a clinical social worker with Jersey Shore Behavioral Inc. at Meridian Health in Neptune. She graduated from Monmouth University and received her masters from Rutgers University in Social Work. Mary was a person who helped many. She cherished her family and friends, she bought light to her nieces and nephews during different stages of their lives. She loved all her animals, needlepoint, knitting, painting, and bowling.

She is survived by her sisters, Julia Zindzius of Pt. Pleasant, Terri Sramowicz of Pt. Pleasant, and Margaret Donna Apanavicius of Ocean City, NJ; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Derrick, Peter Sramowicz, Paul and Adam Zindzius and Maxwell Spell; grandnephews, Xander & Zayden Zindzius. Also surviving is her aunt, Julia Stongvilal and her cousin, Juozas Stongvila.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16 until the memorial service at 4 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society , 2310 Rt. 34 #1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736, American Diabetes Foundation, 210 East High St., Bound Brook, NJ 08805 or to the Associated Humane Society, 2960 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07753 in her memory would be appreciated.
