Charles was the 6th of 7 children born to John Wesley Cooper & Grace Fay [Sprague] Cooper in Seattle,WA. He was a United States Navy Veteran , and true to his family heritage he was an artist in the field of metal Working. In 1978 he purchased Mathews Welding from Harry "Kid" Matthews and remained the owner /operator of the shop until his retirement. He also used his metal working skills to build an ocean going fishing boat for his brother Porter.
