SALTILLO – Alma Gertrude Hill Cook, 89, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at her son's home in Saltillo. She was born Aug. 30, 1916, in Prentiss County to Walter F. and Belle Smith Hill. She lived most of her life in Nettleton and in Saltillo for the past 10 years. She was a retired employee of Reed's Manufacturing in Nettleton and a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Tupelo. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, singing and reading her Bible daily.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Pentecostal Church in Tupelo. The Rev. Larry E. Hill Sr., the Rev. Larry E. Hill II, the Rev. Larry Davis and the Rev. Eddie Clayton will officiate. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park in Verona. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Nettleton is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, James O. "Jim" Cook and wife, Martha, of Tupelo, and Billy Joe Cook and wife, Latain, of Saltillo; six grandchildren, Crystal Shaunessy, Camille Hopper, Melinda Peters, Carmen Usery, Joseph "Joey" Cook and Matthew Cook; two great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Olen Cook; her parents; four sisters and four brothers; and a grandson, Joel Cook.

Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
