Dorothea Violet Hollis - loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother and Sister - went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2011.
She was born on January 16, 1920, at the home place of her parents and paternal grandparents north of Lincoln; she was the 2nd child of Andy and Mable (Titsworth) Eslinger. She went to Round Springs & Union 4 Grade School; she graduated from Lincoln high school in 1938 while staying with her Aunt Maggie in Lincoln. She married Lee Hollis on Nov 27, 1940. She was a homemaker and a farmer's wife. She helped in all the farming except running the baler. Dorothea and Lee farmed in the Victor area of Mitchell County for 33 years until moving to Lincoln in 1973 upon retiring.
She was the mother of six children, Dorothy, Donald, Marvin, Daniel, and Marjory.
Before becoming ill, she enjoyed taking trips to California to visit her children Dorothy, Donald and Daniel. During her visits she had made trips to Hawaii and Mexico.
In May of 2001, she suffered a stroke. She enjoyed the grandkids when they came and saw her; Grandma had a special spot in their hearts. She also liked to read books, watch TV and embroidered pillowcases, almost one pair a week, and spent many hours quilting baby blankets for all of the new family members. She loved to cook and bake for her children and grandchildren. She also loved her flowers and garden. She was a member of the Lincoln Community Church, attending as long as her health allowed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Mable (Titsworth) Eslinger; husband Lee in 1975; brothers Elden and Erven; two infant brothers, Cecil Francis and Paul Joseph; brother-in-law Neil Cross; daughter-in-law Reva Hollis; granddaughter Angel Bell.
