Obituary - Lester E. 'Les' Bean Lester E. "Les" Bean, 69, of 12094 State Highway 8, Titusville, died at 4:05 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008 at UPMC-Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. Born on March 18, 1938 in Endeavor, he was the son of the late Seldon T. and Erma A. Littlefield Bean. He was a graduate of Pleasantville High School Class of 1957. Mr. Bean was employed as a meat cutter at Quality Market and previously employed by A&P, IGA and as a self-employed contractor. He was involved with the Boy Scouts for over 50 years. For several of those years he was the camp ranger for Custaloga Town Scout Reservation with the French Creek Council. He was a scout leader in Titusville, Pleasantville and Hydetown. His love of scouting earned him several awards including, the Vigil Honor, Silver Beaver Award, Wood Badge, Award of Merit and De-Un-Da-Ga Pow Wow hobbyist of the year. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow Langundowi Lodge #46. Mr. Bean was a sports enthusiast and a NASCAR fan. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping at his place in Neilltown. He loved to fly radio controlled airplanes and pow-wow dancing. On Nov. 26, 1960, he married Carol Fadden in St. Titus Church. Mr. Bean is survived by his loving family who he always put first, including his wife, Carol Bean of Titusville; five children, David A. Bean and wife, Irma, of Meadville, Lori Ann Master and husband, Michael, of Franklin, Michelene K. Tarr and husband, Matthew, of Titusville, Mark A. Bean and wife, Suzette, of Stow, Ohio and Todd A. Bean and wife, Shelli, of Erie; 11 grandchildren, Arian Jones, Brando Jones, Cienna "Chili" Bean, Linleigh Master, Branden Master, Garett Master, Dakota Bean, Hunter Bean, Kiran Bean, Ian Bean, Connor Bean; two brothers, Mendall B. Bean of Pleasantville and Gail L. Bean and wife, Char, of Titusville; one sister, Anna Marie McCandless of Titusville, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Bean was preceded in death by a brother, Serrill Bean and a sister, Grace Lo Russo. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville. A vigil service will be conducted at 8:45 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. D.G. Davis III. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Titus Church with the Rev. James Nelson and the Rev. D.G. Davis III, officiating. Interment will be in St. Catharine Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Custaloga Town Scout Reservation c/o French Creek Council, 1815 Robison Rd., Erie, 16509.
