Judith Baker, age 67, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at Bethesda Hospital, St. Paul, Minn. She was born Oct. 10, 1941 at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of E. Jean (Potter) and W. John Beske.
Judith Baker earned a M.A. degree in social work in June of 1965 from the University of Minnesota. In August of 1966, she married Robert E. Baker in Fairbanks, Alaska where the two of them worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She moved to Ashland in September of 1974. She was extremely proud of earning a B.A.degree in accounting from Northland College, Ashland in May of 1986, graduating summa cum laude.
She was treasurer for the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Church Women's Society, Ashland, for many years. She had over 10 years of service with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Ashland, primarily with Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her husband Robert Baker and her two sons, William and Daniel Baker; grandchildren Samantha and Dorothy Baker; brother Jim Beske; sisters Susan Deihl and Virginia Beske (Holden). She was preceded in death by her parents E. Jean Beske and W. John Beske.
A memorial service is being held at the United Methodist Church in Ashland on Saturday, Aug. 22. at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church Women's Society. She will be buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Ashland.
