ANDERSON--Byron Eugene Walker, 75, Anderson, passed away early Thursday morning, June 14, 2012 at St. John's Medical Center.

He was born in Indianapolis, September 7, 1936, the son of Joseph and Laura Baker Walker.

He was a 1955 graduate of Daleville High School. He retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in 1992 after 37 years. He also worked with Dragoo Auctions.

He was a member of the Daleville Lodge F&AM, OES of Daleville and the Pleasant Valley Christian Church. He was a Boy Scout Leader for 15 years, coached Little League Baseball for 25 years and coached many years with the Optomist Basketball league.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Carolyn J. (Hough) of Anderson; five children, Rhonda McCorkle (Dave) of Alabama, Greg Walker (Nancy) of Muncie, Tim Walker (Cheryl) of South Bend, Becky Davis (Rod) of Fishers, and Chris Walker (Tammy) of New Castle; 19 grandchildren, Kirstyn Ford (Craig), Heather Clark (Jeremy), Megan Hooper (Will), Jeremey McCorkle (Amy), Chad McCorkle (Natasha), Bryce McCorkle (Brittany), Libby, Gretchen, Maddy, Gregg, and Alexandra Walker, Jennifer Boehm, Rachel, Regan, Rylee, and Trey Davis, Skyler, Isabelle, and Caroline Walker; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Walker (Marge) of Yorktown; step-brothers, John Dragoo and Jim Dragoo, and step-sister, Mary Howell; several nieces and nephews; friends, Jack and Joyce Engle, Ginny and Steve Brooking, Phyllis Wagner, and neighbors as well as sister-in-laws, Doris Wages and Joyce Stephens, and brother-in-law, John Hough.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joeseph Walker, Laura Walker and Marjorie Walker; and mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Gladys Hough.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 S. Walnut in Daleville, with Pastor Marty Ballard of the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in Sunderland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and one hour before the services on Monday.

Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Association through the funeral home.
