Military rites for Master Sgt. L. B. Denney, 41, who died of illness in Japan, will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Gene Roden Sons chapel here. The Rev. R. A. Partlow of First Presbyterian Church will officiate, and Perrin Field personnel will conduct graveside rites. Interment will be made in Meadowbrook Memorial Park, east of Paris.
Sergeant Denney, in the army 22 years, suffered a stroke and died May 6, in an army hospital in Japan, his wife, formerly Miss Eva Matheny of San Antonio, attending him there. She has been at the home of Mrs. H. S. Hopkins, 1431 Cedar St. since her arrival here.
Sergeant Denny was born in Alabama, March 15, 1912, son of the late Harry and Mary (Browning) Denney.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, William C. Denney, and these brothers and sisters: Capt. C. P. Denney, Trieste, Italy; Master Sgt. U. V. Denney, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mrs. Cleo Chambers, Holyoke, Mass., and Mrs. Vernie Pittman, Williamsville, Mo.
He was a member of Hancock Lodge No. 311, AF&AM, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; Commandery No. 22, Knights Templar, Brownwood, and Alzafar Temple (Shrine), San Antonio.
