Florence was born on her parents farm in Riverside township, Clay County, SD. She grew up on that farm and attended Ellis White School.
She married Irvine Eklund on September 5, 1936. They farmed near Hub City and lived in a house built by Irvine's grandfather, JP Eklund. In 1944 they moved to a farm in Glenwood township, three miles west of Beresford, SD. They retired from farming and moved into Beresford in 1974.
Florence and Irvine had two sons.
