She was the daughter of John Fenimore and Eliza P. Buck (married 8-18-1849 in Indiana). After her father John died in 1885, her mother Eliza moved to Columbus, Ohio to live with their son John and his family. Eliza died there, sometime after 1900. Sarah married William L.S. Jones on March 12, 1853 in Indiana, and they had seven children: Minta Elizabeth (b. 6-2-1854); America (b. 1856); Mary P. (b. 1858); William (b. 1859); Sarah (b. 4-3-1863); Lemuel Selby (b. 3-1-1869); and John Fenimore (b. 3-3-1872).
