Muriel Parker Hammond Moody, age 97, passed away April 25, 2007. She was born Oct. 27, 1909, in Rutland, N.D., to Dr. Charles and Ella Ahrlin Parker. She moved to California and subsequently to Pioche, in 1936, to teach school. There she met and married John Edgar Hammond. In 1946, they moved to Las Vegas where she taught school at John S. Park School. Edgar died in 1957 and in February 1967, she married Max W. Moody and moved to his home in Hawaii. Max passed away in 1985 and in 2000 she returned to Las Vegas. She was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served with her husband Max as the matron of the Hawaiian Temple. She loved doing genealogy and family history work. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists and the American Revolution. She is survived by her sisters, Jerda Griffith and Carmen (Lenny) Heinen; brother, Glen Parker (Harriet); her sons, William B. (Diane) Hammond and John P. Hammond; stepson, Ross (Marian) Moody; 12 grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren. She is also survived by many great and great great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Monday, April 30, with services to follow, both at the Anthem Stake Center, Carnegie and Cozy Hill Circle. Burial will be at Bunker Memory Gardens.
