Ulah Leone Wetzel Ammons, 81, of Mannington, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at home.

She was born Aug. 7, 1919, at Flat Run, Mannington, daughter of the late David Emory "Jack" Wetzel and Effie Pearl Fluharty Wetzel.

She worked as a public health nurse in Mannington for several years and was a longtime tour guide with the West Virginia Travelers Club. She was Protestant. She was a member of Mannington Women's Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jean Ammons Cyphers, of Fairmont; two grandchildren, Amy Fawn Cyphers Comin, and spouses, the Rev. Douglas W. Comin, of Durham, N.C., and Franklin Gary and Linda Kay Cyphers, of Clarksburg; two brothers and spouses, Marvin and Barbara Wetzel, of Denver, and David Emory and Rita Wetzel, of Mannington; a daughter-in-law, Sara Jane Ammons, of Vienna; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Jacob Comin, Karis Riley and Jackie Goodwin.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Ammons; a son, Bruce Dale Ammons; and six brothers, Percy L. Wetzel, H. Jerl Wetzel, Joseph Wetzel, Paul Wetzel, Newton Wetzel and Warren Quay Wetzel.

Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, Mannington, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 8, with Pastor Tim Brower officiating. Burial will be in Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations: Harrison County Hospice.
