Mathilda Eleanor Kienzle-Morrison, age 71, of Concord, New Hampshire, formerly of 2549 Decatur Avenue, Bronx, New York died Sunday, August 29, 1999 at 11:45 a.m. at Harris Hill Genesis Eldercare Nursing Home in Concord, New Hampshire after a prolonged fight with lung cancer. Her son Bruce was by her side when the Lord called her home. She lived on Decatur Avenue in the Bronx for over 40 years.

She was born May 17, 1928 on Elsmere Place, Bronx, New York, the daughter of Arthur Herman and Mathilda Holzwarth-Kienzle, both of New York City.

Mattie as Mathilda was known to her co-workers, worked almost 50 years as a waitress in Manhattan and was a member of the Penacock Community Senior Center in New Hampshire.

After retiring in 1993, she moved to Oakland, Maine in 1994 and then moved to Concord, New Hampshire in 1998, after the death of her husband of almost 50 years, Robert Stephen Shaw Morrison who died on August 8, 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Ann Morrison-Metten, and son-in-law and Hans Dieter Metten of South China, Maine. A son, Bruce Arthur Morrison and daughter-in-law, Alice Smith-Morrison of Concord, New Hampshire. Mathilda was also survived by four grandchildren: Robert Vincent Morrison of Concord, New Hampshire, Hans Metten of Maine, Karl Metten of Maine and Richard Metten of Texas.

She was lovingly called Nanny by her five surviving great-grandchildren, Heidi Marie Metten of Maine, Brandon Richard Metten of Maine, Richard Thomas Metten of Maine, Tyler Alexander Metten of Maine, and Sebastian Karl Metten of Maine.

Ellie, as Mathilda was affectionately known to her siblings, is also survived by a brother, Raymond Wenger of Napa, California, a sister, Louise Olga Buckingham-Morello of Waterville, Maine and a sister Elizabeth.

She was the sister of the late Dorothy Margaret Kienzle, who died at the young age of 13, in New York City on November 6, 1938, the late John Joseph Wenger who died in New York on September 25, 1993, and the late Barbara Ruth Kienzle-Stewart who died from lung cancer in Calvalry Hospital in the Bronx on January 31, 1997.

Aunt Nor Nor, as Mathilda was tenderly known to her many nieces and nephews, will be terribly missed by all of them.

Calling hours for family and friends were held at the John F.X. McKeon & Son Funeral Home on Perry Avenue in the Bronx on Wednesday, September 1, 1999 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 2, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at F.X. McKeon & Son Funeral Home.

Interment was followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings on the Hudson.
