"Earl D. Griswold died Wednesday at his home near Portlandville after a long illness. He was 72 years old. Mr. Griswold was born in Sidney on June 12, 1877, a son of Charles and Mary (Bartholomew) Griswold. In 1911, he married Jennie Hodges, who survives. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Thurman Yager of Milford; two stepsons, Bryan and Bert Hodges, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Clifford Smith, Oneonta; four brothers, Frank of Milford, LeRoy of Bainbridge, George of Franklin, and Myron of Unadilla; and a sister, Mrs. Archie Hughes of West Oneonta. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Joyce Funeral home at Unadilla. Burial will take place in the East Sidney cemetery."
