A SUDDEN SUMMONS.
Ex-Marshal Wm. R. Underhill Died
Sunday Night.

A sudden summons came to Ex-Marshal William R. Underhill, of 29 Greenly street, Sunday evening, when he was taken with a serious coughing spell and died before a doctor arrived. He was in unusual good spirits all day Sunday and seemed to be in the best of health. Shortly after he had retired about 9:30 o'clock, he began to cough, and had much difficulty in breathing. His wife called for help and R. J. French who happened to be passing, responded to the summons. He tried in vain to administer some spirits which was in the house, and resorted to every possible means to relieve the sufferer, but all this efforts were of no avail. Mr. French then called in Dr. Williams, but before the latter arrived Mr. Underhill had expired, having choked to death. He was often subject to these coughing spells. Heart disease was the cause of death.

Mr. Underhill was 60 years old and was a member of the Adrian Workingmens Mutual Aid association. He was an ex-member of the fire department, with which he served for several years, and also an ex-marshal of the city, having earned the reputation of being a most fearless and competent official. He was a boiler-maker by trade, which business he had followed for many years in this city.

Besides a wife, three children survive him, Mrs. Sarah Critchell, Mrs. Ella Aiken and Mrs. Florence Schofield, all of this city.
