Clarence T. Rewers, age 89, late of Valparaiso,Indiana
formerly of South Chicago, passed away Sunday June 17, 2012 after battling lung and brain cancer. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Patricia (nee Kowalski). Preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Frances; brother: Alexander (Monica), John (Jane), Edward (Marion), Henry; and sister, Helen (Clement) Przybylinski; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Rose and Zigmund Kowalski, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rev. James Kowalski OFM, Virginia (Paul) Sinal, and Don Rutledge. Also survived by his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gregory (Ardella) Kowalski, Xavier Rutledge, and Gertrude Rewers; nieces and nephews: Eleanore (Richard) Ray, Leonard (Joan) Rewers, Thomas Rewers, late Barbara Zivat, Arlene Terry, Paulette (Robert) Jeffries, late Daniel (Sandy) Rewers, Edna Mae Rewers, Kenneth (Fran) Rewers, Lorraine Nawrocki, late Christine Cash, Terri (Gerry) Iaccino, Kathleen (John) Felkins, Kenneth (Anita) Kmiec, Christine (Michael) Graykowski, Sharon Crawford, Laura Rys, Catherine (Steven) Sarjent, and Patricia (Edward) Chavez; many great and great-great nieces and nephews;
friends at Cardiac Rehabilitation at Porter Hospital; and wonderful friend and caregiver, Maria Koc and her cubby.

Clarence was the former owner of Rewers Camera in South Chicago for 42 years. He was very active in serving his community. He was a longtime member of the South Chicago Chamber of Commerce being selected citizen of the year in 1998. Clarence served with dignity on the Board of Directors for 20 years at Advance Bank formerly South Chicago Bank. Former Chairman of the Board of South Chicago YMCA. Mr. Rewers also served diligently as President of South Chicago Social Club, Trinity Hospital Governing Council, and member of the Gary Sportsman Club. Clarence enjoyed golf, watching the food channel, and baking delicious deserts and cakes. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

His family extends the most grateful appreciation to the VNA Hospice Care of Porter, the doctors and nursing staff of Porter Hospital, Valparaiso, IN. and Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.
