Emmett Keenan, 41 years old, 606 Wayne ave., and well known in Peoria sports circles, died at 1:55 a.m. today at St Francis Hospital. He had been ill for several months with a heart ailment.
Associated with his brother, William J. Keenan, in the Keenan Sporting Goods company 514 Main st., his genial disposition and ready wit made him popular with a wide circle of friends who will be saddened to hear of his passing.
Thomas Emmett Keenan was born in Clay Center, Neb., October 26, 1902, the son of William and Mary Stack Keenan. He married Estelle Connelly in Peoria. He was a member of St. Mary's cathedral. Mr. Keenan was vice president of the Peoria chapter of the Illinois Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs at the time of death.
He leaves his wife; two sons, Robert and William H. Keenan; a daughter Dolores Ann; one brother W.J. Keenan, Peoria; and a sister Mrs Clyde Kraus, Omaha, Neb.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Ziegler-Connors funeral home and at 9 o'clock at St Mary's cathedral. Msgr J. J. Levin will officiate. Interment will be in St Mary's cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and there will be a recitation of the Rosary at 8:30 p.m.
