DORIS L. SANFORD, 80, of *** Trianna Street passed away Saturday May 1, 2004 at her home. She was born January 4, 1924 in Belmont, the daughter of Parker J. Lewis and Ada (Lanphear) Lewis. She was first married February 2, 1947 to Harold A. Lowe who predeceased her on March 13, 1954. In 1972 she married Leroy Sanford who predeceased her on November 17, 1974.
Doris Lewis was a graduate of Belmont High School and had attended business school in Buffalo.
She was a secretary and bookkeeper in the Belmont area for many years. She had been employed at the Allegany County Clerk's Office and had served as Belmont Village Clerk. In later years, she worker for Allegany County BOCES in child care.
She was a member of the Herbert DeLong Post 808 American Legion Auxiliary, the Belmont Fire Department Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Mother.
She was survived by 1 daughter; Deborah (John) Biancuzzo of Belmont, 2 sons; Steven Lowe of Belmont and David Lowe of Boston, MA, 8 Grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 2 nieces. In addition to her husbands she was predeceased by a daughter; Cathryn Lowe Ingalls on October 5, 1975 and her sister; Edith L. Olmstead on October 19, 2002.
