In November Byrd was awarded a 45-year service pin from Carvel Hall Cutlery in Crisfield.
Born here, he was a son of the late Merrill O. Byrd Sr. and Ella Marie Hartman Byrd. His wife, Martha M. Sandlin Byrd, died in 1985.
He was a member of Crisfield's Immanuel United Methodist Church and he was a former financial secretary of Local UAW 195 here.
Surviving are a daughter, Anita K. Byrd, Crisfield; a brother. John C. Byrd. Crisfield and a grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev, Russell Pinkerton officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park here
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.
