UNION GROVE - Rachel Catherine Rushing, 17, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee after a courageous battle with a long illness. She was born February 12, 1991, in Racine, to Bob and Monica (nee: Pitts) Rushing. Rachel was a lifetime resident of Union Grove and was a Junior at Union Grove High School. Rachel was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, where she served as an Altar Girl. She belonged to the Key Club, the Varsity Softball Team, and the Franklin Force Summer Softball Team. Rachel was a Sales Associate for School Days Mall. She was previously on the basketball team and volleyball team during her Freshman and Sophomore years. She loved country music and going to concerts with her friends. She also enjoyed helping her grandparents. Rachel will be sadly missed by her loving parents, adoring brothers, and everyone who knew her. Survivors include her parents, Bob and Monica Rushing of Union Grove; brothers, Rob Rushing of Union Grove, Bill (Lauren) Rushing of Racine, and Mark Rushing of Union Grove; and by grandparents, Albert and Evelyn Pitts of Union Grove and Margaret Rushing of Union Grove. She is further survived by aunts and uncles, MaryAnn (Fred) Dawson of Milwaukee, Jim (Elise) Pitts of Racine, Joe Pitts of Yorkville, Gina (Jim) Neist of Eagle, Marge (Bryce Kiel) Pitts of Madison, Cathy (Dave) Zabler of Franklin, Evie (Dan) Amundson of New Berlin, James (Janice) Rushing of Virginia Beach, Va., and Ann Fonk of Racine; and by many cousins, relatives, and friends. Rachel was preceded in death by her grandfather, James Earl Rushing. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church with Rev. Howard Haase officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 11, 2008, from 3 until 8 p.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church. A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Children's Hospital, especially Sheila and Lucretia. The family would also like to thank everyone for their prayers and support.
