JAMES O. HAZELTON

Hazelton - Rev. James O. Hazelton died Tuesday night at his home on Silver Lake Street after a lingering illness.
Mr. Hazelton was born in Cattaraugus county, NY., December 24, 1836 and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Hazelton, who at one time resided on Silver Lake Street in the house now occupied by E. W. Delaney. He was married in Erie county, Penn. In April 1857, to Araminta A. Edwards who survives him. At the opening of the Civil War Mr. Hazelton was second lieutenant of Co. B 16th Wisconsin regiment. At the conclusion of the war he entered the ministry of the Methodist church at different times had charges in Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas and New York state. About two years ago he removed to this city, which years before had been his home, and has since resided here. Besides a widow, two sisters and one brother survive him.
Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church with internment in LaBelle cemetery.

Rev. James O. Hazelton died on Tuesday evening at his home on Silver Lake Street, aged 69 years.
He was born in Cattaraugus county, NY and when a young man removed to Erie county, Penn. where in April 1857, he married Miss. Araminta Edwards. They continued to reside there until 1859 when they came to Oconomowoc. Mr. Hazelton enlisted as second lieutenant of Co. B. Second Wisconsin regiment in 1861, but was unable to continue in the service until the close of the war on account of ill health.
Later he was ordained a minister of the Methodist church and held charges in Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas and New York. Two years ago Rev. and Mrs. Hazelton returned to this city from Machias, NY, and had since make their home here. He leaves a wife and one brother and two sisters. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the M.E. church, Rev. A.W.Stephens officiating. Burial will be in LaBelle cemetery

Rev. James Orman Hazelton was the son of Orman John and Phebe (Annis) Hazelton. He was the husband of Araminta A. (Edwards) Hazelton. They were married Greene, Pennsylvania April 21, 1857. Araminta died May 1, 1909. Rev. Hazelton was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: Wisconsin Conference 1864 F 1866 Upper Iowa Conference by transfer 1870 Wisconsin Conference by transfer 1877 Genesee (now Western New York) Conference by transfer 1881 Located own request 1883 Readmitted Southwest Kansas Conference 1887 Genesee Conference by transfer 1889.
