Funeral services were held for Elvin O'Guine McLendon, Sr., 86, of Lucedale on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at 3 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church in McLain.
Interment followed in New Life Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Rawls officiating the services.
A retired serviceman serving 20 years in the U.S. Army and a member of New Life Baptist Church, he died June 8 in Pascagoula.
He is survived by his wife Chappell McLendon of Lucedale; son Elvin O. McLendon, Jr.; daughters Kathy Marie Nelson and Rebecca Ann Ford.; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers Vertis E. McLendon and Malcom V. McLendon, Jr.; and sisters Billy Joe Mizell and Rita Fae Pugh.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughters Erica S. Ford and Charlotte K. McLendon; parents Malcom Virgil and Lula Jean Fillingam McLendon; brothers Lindsay McLendon, Edward McLendon and O. D. McLendon; and sister Verdie McLendon.
