Mary S. Hebard was an ardent abolitionist and supporter of Susan B. Anthony in the fight for Women's Rights. On November 1, 1872, Mary Hebard registered to vote in Rochester, NY along with Susan B. Anthony and 13 other women, for which they were arrested and charged with illegally voting. Only Susan B. Anthony went to trial in June 1873. The charges against the other women were eventually dropped.
