No Clew (sic) Found To Brutal Slayer of Bentleyville Man
J. E. Richardson, Aged 61 years, Justice of Peace and Prominent Citizen, Fatally Shot in Bedroom - Revenge is Rumored as Motive for Bold Crime.....
J. E. Richardson was born and reared in the Bentleyville community, coming from a well-known pioneer family. He was a son of Harrison and Sarah Doak Richardson. He was 61, years of age. He had followed farming and had been engaged in other lines of work. A few months ago he was appointed a justice of the peace by Governor Sproul, to fill a vacancy.
He is survived by his wife, who was before her marriage, Ruth Crumrine, of the Clover Hill section. She with these children survive: Ethel Richardson, at home; I.B.Richardson, W. W. Richardson, Ross E. Richardson and Charles K. Richardson, all of the Bentleyville community. The son, W. W. Richardson, is the constable there. Two brothers also survive, W. F. Richardson, of Scenery Hill.
Mr. Richardson was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Bentleyville, joining when 20 years of age. He was active in the church, the superintendent of the Sunday school for several years, and at the time of his death a member of the board of trustees of the church. He was a Republican in politics and active in the affairs of his party. His death, and the manner of it, has greatly shocked and aroused that entire community.
