Jerry P Gibson, 73, passed away October 19. 2009 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne after a brief illness. Born March 4, 1936 in Logansport, he was one of nine children and was the son of E. O. and Sarah Markwardt Gibson. He graduated from Logansport High School in 1954. Professionally, he owned and operated Gibson Electric for several years and later worked for Burton Mechancial in Rochester. In 1985 he began working for Construction Control in Fort Wayne as senior vice president and director of marketing. He retired in 1996. He resumed his career in 1997 and was director of business development for Moake Park Group, Fort Wayne. He loved golf and passed that love to his sons. He also enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with neighbors and friends. He had a passion for I U baketball and the Cubs. He was devoted to his family and was proud of the accomplishments of each of his sons, daughters, and grandchildren. He was a past member of the Logansport School Board and served on the Board odf Trustees of First United Methodist of Logansport and sang in the choir. He also was a member of the Lions Club, Elks and Scottist Rite. After moving to Fort Wayne in 1992, he was a member of the Trinty English Evangelical Church and served on the Board for several years. He was a member of the Pine Valley Country Club. He is survived by his wife Beth Ann (Palmer) Gibson; and sons Oliver and Noah, both at home. He is also survived by son, James D (Kay Flick)Gibson of Sarasota Fl. and daughters, Ann Gundrum of Albion and Beth (Jon) Myers of Logansport; brother, John Gibson of Granger. He leaves his grandchildren, Kris (Jennifer), Megan, Evan, Andrew and Owen and great-grandson Ford. Jerry was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1979 and was given six months to live. He was a survivor of heart disease since 1985.His life is a testament to the medical power of a positive attitude, friendly demeanor, a supportive family and a deadly short game.Service is at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity English Lutheran Church with calling one hour prior. Pastor Frederick Hasecke officiating. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m.Thursday at D. O. McCombs and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home
