John Paul Ackerly, Jr. was the oldest son and oldest child of John Paul and Sarah (Miller) Ackerly.He was born in Augusta Co.,Va. where his parents were living before moving to Rockbridge Co., abt 1800. He married later in life to Mary Jane Cobbs and was the father of three sons all of whom were less than 10 years old when he died.
