Paul Isaac Adams February 16, 1917 - February 21, 2011 Paul Isaac Adams, of State College, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, in State College, at the age of 94. Born Feb. 16, 1917, in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Harry Isaac Adams and Edna Pearl Rutter Adams. His second wife, Maria Margarita Luna Romano Adams, whom he married in 1980, preceded him in death. His first wife, Jane Edwards Adams Carney, whom he married in 1941, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Forrest Adams; and three sisters, Gladys Carthew, Evelyn Nancolas and Jane Penrod. He is survived by his children, Paul Forrest Adams and his wife, Nancy, of Collbran, Colo., Charlotte Monroe and her husband, Jeffrey, of Ridgefield, Conn.; and Geneieve (Ginny) Adams Newman, of Bellefonte. Surviving grandchildren include, Timothy Adams, Sean Adams, Danielle Williams and Jordan Newman; and two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Oliver Williams. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Harry Adams, who died in 1965. A 1936 graduate of Johnstown High School, he attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown studying Engineering. From 1939 to 1943, he worked for the General Motors Corporation inspecting airplane assembly. He served in the United States Army as a Squad Leader with the 95th Infantry Division with combat in the European Theater of Operations and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1945. He worked as an estimator for the Johnstown Planing Mill Company from 1946 to 1950. He also served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1950. After many years of service, he retired as manager of the lumberyard from O.W. Houts & Sons in 1982. In retirement, he worked part-time for the State College Area School District as a bus driver and cafeteria monitor. He enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Centre Squares square dance club. Travel was another activity he enjoyed throughout his life. In his retirement, he took great pleasure in the company of his dogs, Kammy and Rambo, and was an avid fan of Penn State Lady Lions Basketball. He was a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church. Burial arrangements are being handled by Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. Family and friends will be received at Wetzler Funeral Home at 206 N. Spring St. in Bellefonte, Pa., from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2011. His final resting place will be alongside his son, Timothy, in Grand-view Cemetery (Highland Section #1, Plot #47) located in Johnstown. A graveside service will be held on March 3, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. and officiated by Reverend Jeffery L. Bassette of St. David's Lutheran Church, Davidsville.
