RACINE – John Edward Helm Sr., 3801 North Main Street, passed away Sunday, February 7, 1982, at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Mr. Helm was born in Racine on March 11, 1899, and had been a lifetime resident. In Racine on September 27, 1922, he was united in marriage to the former Florence M. Petersen. Mr. Helm had been employed by the Dumore Company for 42 years retiring in 1963. He belonged to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Dumore 20 year Club, the Golden Sunshine Club, and the American Legion Post '76.

Mr. Helm is survived by his wife, Florence; one son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Margaret Helm Jr. of Palatine, Illinois; one daughter and son-in-law, Luann M. and Donald J. Kizer of Racine; eight grandchildren and spouses, Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Gibbs of Waukegan, Illinois, John E. Helm III and Michelle Helm, both of Palatine, Illinois, James E. Bradshaw, David A. Bradshaw, Thomas W. Bradshaw, and Michael J. Bradshaw, all of Racine, Mrs. Mark (Susan M.) Jandl of Wichita Falls, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Brian Gibbs and Sarah Gibbs, both of Waukegan, Illinois; one sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Gene Mauer of Racine; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Arthur and Millie Petersen of Sun City West, Arizona; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Helen Helm of Madison, Wisconsin, Mrs. Carolyn Johnson and Mrs. Margaret Petersen, both of Racine, and Mrs. Christine Anderson of Rockford, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Helm was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lucy Olle Helm and a brother, Frederick Helm.

Private funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, Reverend Robert Henkel will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Garden Court Crypts of Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wilson funeral Home, 1139 Blaine Avenue on Tuesday, February 9, from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Memorials to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer have been suggested.
