Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - March 13, 1997. Deceased Name: Lavona Rasmussen Jensen. Lavona Rasmussen Jensen, our beloved mom and grandma, a truly gentle lady passed away March 11, 1997. Lavona was born in 1898 in Draper, Utah to Soren and Annie Rasmussen. She received her schooling in Draper. She married Carl Oliver Jensen in 1914. They had five children. Together with three small children, Lavona was at Carl's side through dental school. Mom was the epitome of kindness and graciousness. She adored her family and they adored her. She had so many friends she cared for and loved and they loved her in return. She was a very talented pianist and organist, being a stake organist for 65 years. She played an organ solo in church on her 98th birthday - beautifully. She sang on KSL radio with a ladies trio in the 1930's. She was very gifted with her hands and could do any kind of handiwork and sewing. She was a member of the Beta Sorosis Literary Club.

Lavona is survived by daughter, Iola Anderson (Gordon), son, Dr. Darrell C. Jensen (Joan), daughter Beryl J. Smiley (Richard), 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, son, Alva, daughter, Bonnie, sister, Naomi Stringfellow and brother, Stanley A. Rasmussen. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 17, 11 a.m. at Berg Mortuary, 185 E. Center St., Provo. Viewing begins at 9:30 a.m.
