LAST OF DISTRICT CIVIL WAR VETERANS DIES

Josiah M. Donaldson, nearly 90 years of age and the last of the Civil War Veterans in five counties of North Eastern Michigan, died Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fabian Jacques. His death due to infirmities of age, culminated an illness of about three weeks duration.
Mr. Donaldson was born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, May 22, 1847. He was sworn into service at the age of 14, giving his age as 18.
For many years he lived and worked in and about Lincoln, Barton City, and Spruce, where he is widely known and highly respected. At Lincoln he operated a saw mill for many years and at Spruce he engaged in farming.
Mrs. Donaldson died eight years ago at Lincoln where she was buried. The past seven years most of his time was spent in Alpena.
The body of Mr. Donaldson was brought to Lincoln where funeral services will be arranged.
Surviving Mr. Donaldson are: one son in Alaska, a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Bushey, Spruce; and a brother, Eli Donaldson, Barton City.
