65, of 113 Lynn St., formerly of Charlotte, NC, died Feb. 20, 1996, at his home after an extended illness.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at El Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Sweet officiating. Burial is in Wood Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. Pallbearers are his nephews, Terry and Mike Polly, Mike Annas, Joe Watson, Allan and Dale Ramsey. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at The Wood Mortuary.
A native of Laurinburg, NC, and son of the late Cannon Lee Adams Sr. and Elnora Shearin Adams, he was owner and operator of Adams Trucking Co. and a member of El Bethel Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Harding High School and attended Queens Business College, both of Charlotte, NC, and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Adams was a member of the Air National Guard of Charlotte, NC, the Charlotte Police Reserves, Past Master and member of the Bailey Masonic Lodge No. 146, Past Worthy Patron and member of the Eastern Star No. 151, member of Hejaz Temple and served on the Advisory Board of the Order of the Rainbow Girls for a number of years.
Mr. Adams was a loving and caring husband, wonderful father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie Stanfield Adams of the home; two sons, Jack McGarity of Charlotte, NC, and Gene Adams of Greenville; three daughters, Vicki Krause and Gail Eanes, both of Greer, Sue Carter of Hudson, NC; three sisters, Helen Shearin of Littleton, NC, and Myra Annas and Ruth Watson, both of Charlotte, NC; and 22 grandchildren. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Ramsey.
