Luella Harris-Williams was born from the union of Robert Harris and Lela Mae Merriweathers-Harris in York, Alabama on February 29, 1936. Luella became a Christian at an early age and joined the Shiloh Missionary Church in Deovolente, Mississippi under the leadership of Rev. H. Dorsey. Later on, in life, she became a member of Strait Gate Inc., in Chicago, Illinois where she remained until her passing. Luella was a faithful and dedicated member. She worked as a Sunday School teacher and was an Elder in the Church.

Luella attended Grammar and High School in Belzoni, Mississippi. After relocating to Chicago, she earned her degree in Nursing and worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital until she retired. She was an active member of Action Now and was a community activist.

Luella may best be remembered as a Woman of God who never stopped praising the name of Jesus. Luella was united in holy matrimony to James Williams and to the union she inherited sons, daughters, and grandchildren.

Luella Williams leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Clayton E. Harris, Constance Bradley, mother of Luella's grandchildren, one brother, Clarence Harris, four sisters, Billie McCoy, Loumit Holland, Gloria Singleton, Juanita King-Holmes, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends.
