Moved to Grinnell in the fall of 1887, prior to that lived in Waukon, IA, then joined the Army, then lived in Cherokee & Sibley as a blacksmith. Lived in Grinnell 1887 to 1898. Had one son Edward Burton Bailey that was going to college to be a minister, but he died one year after entering college. Due to failing health he gave up the forge & became a clerk at the state auditor's office in Des Moines. They moved to Des Moines in 1898. He died in 1908 & the body was taken to Grinnell to be laid next to his 2 children. The funeral was attended by Mrs Sarah Bailey of Des Moines & son Frank of Colorado Springs.
They had 9 children all had passed except for 4 as of the 1922 0bit: Mrs O.D. Ocheltree of Bayard, IA; Frank H. Bailey of Aspen, CO; Minnie F. Bailey of Bayard, IA & Robert P. Bailey of Des Moines, IA.
