Pioneer Business Man in Blanchester Taken at 90
HAD SUFFERED FALL
Which Hastened Death-Services Thursday At 11A.M.
William H. Carnahan, 90 one of Blanchester's early business leaders, died at the Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from complications which followed a fall and injuries almost seven months ago at the Hotel Bindley, where he has resided for a number of years.
Funeral services are to be held at the Hannah Funeral Home here Thursday morning at 11 o'clock in charge of Rev. R.S. Kellerman, with interment in the I.O.O.F cemetery.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Theodore Bange, of Cincinnati and a granddaughter, Jean Bange. Several nieces and nephews also survive, including Harley and Mart Carnahan, of Washington. C.H. now an invalid, is the sole survivor of a family of eight children of Mr. & Mrs. David Carnahan. The Carnahan's were descendants of a pioneer family which originally settled in Clinton county from Kentucky in 1811.
The Carnahan family lived near Cuba when William H. was born, and later moved to the place on Route 28 now occupied by L. Wigington. He engaged in farming during his younger days, coming to Blanchester where he engaged for many years in the buggy and implement business. He also owned a blacksmith shop on the present site of the Blanchester motor Co.
Mr. Carnahan was an offer and director in the old Merchants and Farmers Bank it having at that time been in his building on South Broadway. The brick Carnahan Block now owned by William Rogers, and erected by Mr. Carnahan in 1895-6, was one of the few business structures to survive the Blanchester fire. He also built the imposing home on
West Main Street now the property of Dr. H.E. Gibson, in which he lived for a number of years.
Mr. Carnahan's wife preceded him in death two decades ago.

He was the son of David C. Carnahan and Deborah Thornhill.
He was born 11 January 1849 in Washington Tp., Ohio. Married Ella Wood 21 Oct. 1883. She was born Feb. 1856 in Ohio. William Harvey Carnahan died 25 April 1939.
