On Thursday, June 21st, 2012, our most cherished, Bernard Graham, passed away at the place he loved best, his home in Odd. He lived two days past his 71st birthday.

One of five children, Bernard Lee Graham was born on June 19th, 1941, at Odd, WV. He is the beloved son of Ellie Lusk-Graham of Odd and the late Clifton Graham (1916-1971). A sister, Nancy Graham-Meadows (Deceased), has preceded him in death. Bernard had great memories of paternal and maternal grandparents, Andrew Wesley Graham (1896-1977) and Florence Virgie Lusk-Graham (1899-1987) and Benjamin Harrison Lusk (1889-1964) and Martha J. Graham-Lusk (1893-1980).

A lifelong resident of the Odd community, Bernard was a member of the Missionary Baptist faith. He was a carpenter and mason by trade. Bernard loved to hunt, dig ginseng and ride his four-wheeler, and most of all be with his family.

In addition to his mother, Bernard leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 years, Loretta "Doris" Meadows-Graham (B. 1943); he is the dear father of David Graham, John Graham and his wife, Tina, all of Egeria, and Loretta Graham-Barker and her husband, Matthew Barker, of Princeton; the doting grandfather of Ashley Dowell and her husband, Ronnie, Cassandra Hutchens, all of Princeton, and Holly Hutchens of Egeria; the fond brother of Larry Graham of Odd, Betty Graham-McVey of Beaver and Janie Sue Graham-Meador of Egeria. Bernard leaves a large extended family, the Grahams and Doris' family the Meadows.

His father and mother-in-law, John "Leslie" Meadows (1906-1994) and Ina Mae Meadows (1907-1998), have preceded him in death, as well as a nephew on the Graham side of the family, Jason McVey (Deceased). Bernard was fond of all his several nieces and nephews; among them was "his favorite," Shawn Roberts.

On Sunday, June 24th, at 3 p.m. we will remember the life of this good man with a "Service of Remembrance" at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Bishop J.L. Clyburn will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Bernard will then be laid to rest in the Brammer Cemetery at Flat Top.
