She was born on Aug. 20, 1935, in Galesburg, the daughter of Byron Cornelius and Virginia Marie Walker Hutson. She was raised and educated in Knoxville. She earned a GED in January 1995. She married Leroy Eugene Conover on July 27, 1951, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1993.
Surviving are two daughters; Lisa Marie (Don) Holcomb of Corvallis, Ore., and Helen Sue (Steve) McNeil of Auburn, Ill; two sons, Roy Edward (Karen) Conover of Olympia, Wash., and Carl Lee Conover of Fulton, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, John, Julie, Wes, Riley, Michael, Cheryl, Lauren, Byron, Jonathan and Morgan; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Buster) Perry of Knoxville; and three brothers, Jim (Mary) Hutson of Blytheville, Ark., Neil Hutson of Anchorage, Alas., and John (Sharon) Hutson of East Moline, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, one in infancy, Donald Eugene; and one brother, Robert Hutson.
She traveled the world with her husband during his service in the armed forces, with Germany being her favorite place to live. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, making children's clothing and making teddy bears. She was an avid pinochle player. She enjoyed having coffee at George's, McDonalds and Hardee's with her friends. She also enjoyed reading historical books. She was a past Cub Scout den mother. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Knoxville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Ill., officiated by the Rev. Terry Link of Pleasant Hill Healthcare of Girard, Ill. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Central Illinois Chapter, 606 W. Glen Ave., Peoria, Ill 61614.
