Bruce M. Claflin, 75, of 4718 Danbury St. NE, died Sunday, September 9, 2001, in the Hiawatha Care Center after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Don Caspers. Burial: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Fairfax Cemetery, Fairfax, with military rites. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bruce was born November 13, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, the son of James L. and Minnie Broking Claflin. He married Jean A. Bennett on February 12, 1950, in Fairfax. Bruce worked at Kings Crown Concrete Company, later at Central Concrete Company and until his retirement at L. L. Pelling Company. He was a member of American Legion Pekomy Post 572 in Fairfax and the Cedar Rapids and Marion Home Builders Association, former member of Harmony Hawks Chorus and served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bruce's name.
