Doris Arline Ewan, 93, of Metamora, IL, formerly of Peoria and Henry, IL, passed away at 4:25 am on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at UnityPoint Health-Proctor, Peoria. She was born on July 4, 1922 in Des Moines, IA to Ardrey L. and Margaret A. (Kennedy) Allen. She married John Grafton Ewan on July 16, 1942 in Des Moines, IA. He passed away on June 3, 2008.

Surviving are her children John (Sue) Ewan of Kimberling City, MO, LeeAnn (Jay) Glatz of Dunlap, IL, and Thomas (Valeria) Ewan of Old Hickory, TN; five grandchildren Matthew (Sara) Glatz, Shawn (Janelle) Glatz, Patrick Glatz, Alissa (H. Lee) Martin, and Maggie Ewan; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Norman Allen.

Doris was a teacher and director for the University United Methodist Church Nursery School in Peoria from 1965 - 1982. She was an active volunteer for University United Methodist Church from 1965 - 2000. She had actively volunteered in her community in Girl Scouts, 4-H, Sunday School, and Meals on Wheels. Doris enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, and the outdoors. She loved listening to talking books. She had a special love for little children. She was a member of Metamora Christian Union Church and the Phileathea group. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
