"The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 64, No 14, p 444, Apr. 6, 1908.

Mary Buell Clarke was born in Stonington, Conn., August 26, 1850.

She was the daughter of Albert and Nancy Noyes Buell, and was one of six children, two of whom survive her. She married Franklin Clarke, November 3, 1875, who died in 1900. To them were born three sons, two of whom, Frederick N. and Willard Russell, survive her.

Mrs. Clarke was well known in Rhode Island because of her connection with the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and the Woman's Relief Corps, and often appeared before the children of our school to speak in regard to questions of patriotic interest. She was very helpful to anyone in trouble, and was watchful for opportunities for doing a service. She was an earnest Christian, a member of the Pawcatuck Seventh-day Baptist Church, and few were more faithful to its services than she. She died February 26, and the funeral services were held in the church, Sabbath afternoon, February 29, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor.
