Zaberer, Rita Ann (Hurchik), 88, of Coconut Creek Fl. passed away on August 31, 2009.
Born: July 27, 1921, in Philadelphia. Graduated West Chester State Teachers College and completed post graduate work at Temple University. Taught English and Music in the School District of Philadelphia. Married Charles N. Zaber er in 1955 and moved to Wildwood, New Jersey. In 1960 she and her family moved to Northfield, New Jersey. Rita and her husband opened Zaberer restaurant maintained over 350 employees. Mrs Zaberer continued to operate the establishment until 1983. She also resided in Margate City, New Jersey, and eventually retired to Coconut Creek, Fl.

Rita was actively involved in a myriad of business, professional, and charitable organizations throughout her life, and received a number of awards in recognition thereof, among them: former President of Atlantic County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, WomenAcAAs Division of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce, and local chapter of Zonta International. She also served on the Board of Directors of Atlantic National Bank and Board of Trustees of the Atlantic City Convention Bureau. Mrs. Zaberer became the first woman to receive both Mainlander of the year award and BAcAAnai BAcAArith Civic Association Award, Atlantic City Chapter. Additionally, she was an active participant in Atlantic City-Puerto Rico Reciprocal Visitation Program, Betty Bacharach WomenAcAAs Auxiliary, March of Dimes, and NJ Resort and Travel and Hotel-Motel Associations.

She is predeceased by her husband, Charles, who passed away in 1971, and her parents Michael & Mary Hurchik. Rita is survived by her children : Francis, Christine Bland and Jon (Jack); her brother John Two grandsons: Jason and Brian; and her son in-law, David.
